Forward: Thesis Statement: Future of Female Design

Original Statement:
This collection is a diary, a collection of stories, using pivotal and commonplace “female” garments and designing them using a narrative system tailored after authors such as Maggie Nelson in her novel “The Argonauts” and Anne Boyer in her piece “Garments Against Women”. I am instead working with the focus of depicting a female gaze to spark discussion and begin a serious discourse leading to the realization of a better fashion system that values the women consuming its products. My work depicts the strength of women as women, not women imitating men. No longer carrying an aura of strength which our society pushes to us through gendered lenses. This work shows and demands the respect that men receive without compromising feminine power. The use of recycled and sustainable materials shows our planet the respect that women have been denied, My collection shows women embodying their strength and compassion in a creative role rather than adopting the artificial position as merely muse to a man's view of the world. It’s time for change.

Now:
Going forward I am focusing on sex work; dressing the Queens of that world (myself included) working with individuals who are working for themselves, pushing the shame around women and sex away with their might. This isn't just about women, however female energy is my focus, we all possess a level of femeinine, some call it weak but I call it compassion, vulnerability, kindness. Not that men don't possess these traits, not that they aren’t masculine, but gender is a construct, and our associations around it are constructed as well to believe those attributes are one gender vs the other, when really our agency and power can come from knowing both our divine feminine and divine masculine. Looking to onlyfans a platform many people have turned to in this time of economic and intimate unrest and using it to not only continue my collection, art, and writings but also support myself in the meantime. Being a part of the people I design for has always been a focus of mine, if I don't have empathy in my work then why even make it. If it doesn’t support devine agency and individual artists I won't let it define my career. Now we come together and beat shame, a tyrant, a terrible teacher, a bully.

The past few months have been painful as I try to find solutions while my mind buzzes with anxiety, fear, and rage. Watching my classmates and myself struggle to find any solid ground, after working the past four years often for free with the promise, you, everyone we sweat for had our backs. My work has always rotated around agency, shame, and sexuality sex work has always been entangled in my work. As I go forward I will no longer work for brands, companies, people who can’t see their duty as creators is to speak up & create positive change, not just increase their personal capital. This pivot brought me back to my own sex work, so when you ask for my website dont be shocked that its my onlyfans, thats this thesis’ next step, I will never count on people like this institution again.
