This summer, students from around the world will come to Parsons to learn more about design and themselves in an atmosphere of creative excellence.

Thank you for your interest in Parsons Summer 2009. Registration for 2009 starts on November 18, noon EST, and online registration will be available through this website on a first-come first-served basis.

Summer Intensive Studies: New York

A residential summer program for college, adult, and high school students 16 and older. Four-week, four-credit courses use New York City as a design laboratory.

Enroll in Summer Intensive Studies: New York and discover an exceptional academic program enriched by the vast resources of New York. As a high school student preparing to apply to undergraduate programs, a college student complementing current degree studies, or as an adult investigating career objectives, our courses will assist in defining and attaining future goals.

Summer Intensive Studies: Paris

A residential summer program for college, adult, and high school students 16 and older. Two- and four-week courses in Paris for college credit.

At Summer Intensive Studies: Paris, you'll experience this vibrant city from an insider's perspective through exposure to European art, design, and history within Paris' hundreds of museums and design studios. Classes meet at sites throughout the city, ranging from exhibitions, architectural landmarks to parks. Weekend excursions and field trip in and around Paris complement these two- and four-week courses.

Summer Studies in Architecture

The Parsons School of AConstructed Enviornments offers a five-week summer program intended for current college students and college graduates of any age interested in investigating and preparing for a career in architecture or lighting design. This rigorous studio-based program initiates students in all aspects of architectural education including design, drawing, digital representation and computer skills, architectural analysis, and design history and theory, as well as helping them prepare the portfolio material necessary for admission to graduate programs in architecture or lighting design.

Graduate International Summer Programs

The Masters Program in the History of Decorative Arts & Design, a collaborative program of Parsons and Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, offers two-week graduate-credit summer seminars in Paris. Courses are open to graduate students who are currently enrolled in MA or Ph.D programs.

Parsons Pre-College Academy

Parsons Academy is our year-round pre-college studio program for young artists and designers entering grades 4 through 12. Our two-week summer intensive courses build a solid foundation in drawing and the design process while utilizing the extensive visual and cultural resources of New York City. In the morning, students develop drawing skills and visual concepts in a drawing studio. In the afternoon, they explore a specific art or design discipline in depth through an elective studio. This is a non-credit, non-residential program.

Graduate Program for Art Educators in New York: Bank Street College of Education and Parsons

Bank Street College of Education and Parsons have collaborated to offer a three-summer graduate degree program in Leadership in the Arts which leads to a Master of Science in Education. This program is designed to meet the needs of educators and has two principal components: the leadership portion provides the knowledge and skills needed for the role of supervisor and administrator in diverse school and community settings, the studio portion helps students refine and develop art and design skills.

The Summer Writers Colony at The New School

Take part in workshops and literary salons with renowned New School faculty members and visiting writers; attend legendary New York City literary venues; and meet authors, editors, and agents at the center of the contemporary American literary scene.
