2 BBA Strategic Design & Management Students Win Fashion Scholarship

The School of Design Strategies is pleased to announce that two BBA Strategic Design & Management students were awarded $5,000 scholarships on behalf of the YMA-Fashion Scholarship Fund. Founded in 1937, the fund is a national association dedicated to promote education of the fashion arts and business. Its mission is to recruit, nurture and cultivate the next generation of leaders in the industry. Students were asked to research and develop a competitive analysis of a brand, present a marketing plan, and create a collection of garments for Lululemon. Buy Nothing New Month Project: 44 students, 1 month, ZERO new stuff Inspired by the international Buy Nothing New Month, this project aims to explore the behaviors and values of Millennials (aka Y generation) in the context of consumerism and sustainable alternatives (sharing, swapping, making, second-hand) to consumption through facilitation of a Buy Nothing New Month challenge. Getrid is the simplest way to give and get things for free. The app is created by Sebastian Lindén, a Parsons student majoring in Strategic Design + Management, and will be released on May 26 in the US. miLES Storefront Transformer Launched

Made in the Lower East Side (miLES), an organization that works to open up underused storefronts for new and creative uses, is launching an exciting new project called Storefront Transformer. The project, which has just launched its Kickstarter campaign, will turn a vacant storefront in the Lower East Side into a pop-up community hub over the course of 7 weeks in November and December. Christian Schneider joins Parsons the New School for Design Strategies as an Associate Professor of Design and Management. He has a background in strategic design consulting – he worked as a designer for Studio De Lucchi and as a project leader for IDEO, building and running comprehensive consulting programs. Guiding IDEO Milan he collaborated with Sottsass Associati and with DeLoitte Italy exploring synergies between design and business consulting in the late nineties. Clients include Deutsche Bank, Deutsche Telekom, Ferrari, FSB and Siemens amongst others.
