1977: John Travolta stars in bell-bottoms on <\/a>Saturday Night Fever<\/a>, <\/i>Diane Von Furstenberg\u2019s wrap dress<\/a> is everywhere, and punk has taken over. New York is unmistakably the center of fashion\u2014and creativity: The New Museum has opened, Cindy Sherman has started her famous Untitled Film Stills<\/i><\/a>, and, of course: the School of Fashion has moved into 560 Seventh Avenue\u2014the heart of the Garment District.<\/p>\n

Nothing was the same after we arrived. The influx of younger designers and students of fashion brought in a freshness that turned the School of Fashion into a mainstay of the district.<\/p>\n

Now, 37 hugely successful years later\u2014years that have produced a tremendous number of cutting-edge designers, editors, and trend-setters like no other school of its kind\u2014the School of Fashion is moving downtown, to the New School\u2019s new University Center. As fashion itself has evolved and diffused around the city, we are too.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re excited. Our location might change, but our forward-thinking dedication to all things fashion won\u2019t.<\/p>\n

As we like to say: #YouNeverLeaveParsons<\/a><\/p>\n

This Thursday, we\u2019re having a farewell party to say goodbye to the famous 560 Seventh Avenue and hello to The New University Center\u2014and all the years ahead, years in which the next Donna Karan, the next Jason Wu, the next Tom Ford, the next Marc Jacobs will learn, study, and work.<\/p>\n

Today, we\u2019ve covered the exterior with a reminder to all of Seventh Avenue with that message. We might be moving downtown, but our presence will continue to be felt everywhere:<\/p>\n
