{"id":12456,"date":"2014-02-07T15:34:58","date_gmt":"2014-02-07T20:34:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fashion.parsons.edu\/?p=12456"},"modified":"2018-06-26T10:49:15","modified_gmt":"2018-06-26T14:49:15","slug":"fake-real-melitta-baumeister-v-files","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/parsons.edu\/bfafashion\/fake-real-melitta-baumeister-v-files\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;What is Fake, What is Real&#8221;: Melitta Baumeister at V-Files"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.style.com\/fashionshows\/complete\/F2014RTW-vfiles\">sharp, visionary new collection by\u00a0Melitta\u00a0Baumeister<\/a>, a recent graduate from Parsons MFA in Design &amp; Society, is now up at V-Files on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/style.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">style.com<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Baumeister\u2019s work\u2014rooted here in the complex play of black and white\u2014 updates contemporary simplicity for the ambitious, cybernetic m\u00e9tier evoked by Eyebeam, where the collection was first shown.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\"><a href=\"http:\/\/fashion.parsons.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Melitta1-copy.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12460\" alt=\"Melitta1 copy\" src=\"http:\/\/fashion.parsons.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Melitta1-copy.jpg\" width=\"449\" height=\"672\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Innovative in her use of materials, Baumeister \u201cdeveloped a method of re-creating clothes\u2014like fisherman\u2019s knits and ribbed tanks\u2014in silicone via a series of intricate molds.\u201d For V-Files, this collection\u2014particularly the \u201cstructured vinyl coats, an airy white neoprene dress, and belts crafted from marbled silicone\u201d\u2014stood out.
