Nixon, in August 1974.<span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-indent: .5in\"><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial\"><a title=\"Three Days of the Condor\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0073802\/\" target=\"_blank\">Three Days of the Condor<\/a><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: Arial\">, a political thriller directed by Sydney Pollack and featuring Robert Redford, was released on November 14, 1975. The story was based on a popular <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial\">malfeasance<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial\"> novel written by James Grady.<span> <\/span>The drama\u2019s suspense capitalized on the public\u2019s mistrust of insider coalitions and clandestine cover-ups. Redford portrayed a deskbound CIA operative, code name \u201cCondor.\u201d The character is caught in a murderous power struggle of moral ambiguity on behalf of his employers. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-indent: .5in\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial\">The Ivy League menswear throughout the film earns the distinction from GQ Magazine as one of the 25 most stylish films of all time. The coatless winter flair &#8212; including simple shirting, a tie, a crewneck sweater, tweed blazer, denim jeans and hiking boots &#8212; are all notably campus quad attire. \u201cNew England preparatory schools, conservative Protestant values and social stratification collectively created an environment which produced the uniform we know today as the preppy look,\u201d according to Chris Hogan, Editor-in-Chief of <em><a title=\"Off the Cuff: Classic.Modern.Style\" href=\"http:\/\/offthecuffdc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Off the Cuff: Classic. Modern. Style<\/a><\/em>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-indent: .5in\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial\"><span> <\/span>It is similar to the style seen in the characterization of the apathetic Hubbell Gardner in the 1973 film <em><a title=\"The Way We Were\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0070903\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Way We Were<\/a><\/em>, another Pollack film riddled with relationship and political complications, and McCarthyism. <em><a title=\"All the President's Men\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0074119\/\" target=\"_blank\">All the President\u2019s Men<\/a><\/em>, a political memoir and 1976 film directed by Alan J. Pakula, is about Woodward and Bernstein\u2019s exposure of the Watergate scandal.<span> <\/span>Redford portrayed the \u2018properly askew\u2019 Yale alumnus Bob Woodward. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-indent: .5in\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial\"><span> <\/span>Bernie Pollack is the noted Hollywood costumer who created the looks for Redford in <em>Condor <\/em>and <em>All the President\u2019s Men.<\/em> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial\">\u201cHe wore one outfit through the whole picture!\u201d recalls Sydney Pollack, when asked about Robert Redford\u2019s wardrobe in <em>Condor<\/em><span>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-indent: .5in\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial\"><span> <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial\">It may look like a simple ensemble, however it was created with great care to define Redford\u2019s character, Joe Turner, as an educated researcher unaccustomed to corruption and peril. \u201cWe wanted an intellectual East Coast thing,\u201d Bernie says. \u201cSome sort of jacket, a chambray shirt with a wool tie &#8212; not a silk tie but a wool tie, which gave him a bit of a rougher, kind of college-professor look.\u201d<span> . <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-indent: .5in\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial\"><span> <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial\">In the final scene of <em>Condor<\/em> Joe Turner is dressed in a classic dark pea coat.
