Framing Reality

Social Media and Youth Mental Health

Project Description
Framing Reality is a fun and lighthearted activity addressing the serious problem of social media overuse by teenagers. While apps can connect us, algorithms that connect us online can do so at the expense of real-life social interaction, which is crucial for the mental well-being of developing, young adults. Through an iterative, community-driven research process, students developed the Framing Reality toolkit for students to explore their relationship to social media, experience their physical surroundings without their devices, and reflect on intentionally digital-free experiences in a supportive classroom setting.
