Gemisfera: The phygital plants

Gemisfera functions as a phygital communication device that transforms the way people maintain emotional bonds through distance. The project draws from personal experience of displacement to bring back emotional depth and meaningful rituals into long-distance relationships through digital communication. Each Gemisfera exists as a dual unit. The two devices function as a pair because one remains with you while the other accompanies someone you love. Devices maintain a shared digital plant which develops through your daily interactions by receiving light and warmth and touch, and attention.

The non-verbal inputs create a silent communication system that allows users to express their presence without using words or messages. The changing plant develops into a symbolic representation of the relationship, which displays its delicate nature while it grows and occasionally needs attention, yet always shares its narrative. Gemisfera exists where design meets art and emotional technology through its combination of physical elements with digital generative content. The system rejects fast-paced digital communication tools to provide a slower and more human connection through its soft approach. The system requests a better connection rather than more communication.
