Introduction

In I Am The House, you play as Sam Lee, an architecture student who comes to find out things about the house that only they know. The more they learn, the more they feel the need to hide (for the sake of keeping their friends happy and sane), all while trying to find a way to escape the house before it eats them alive.

It’s a visual novel! Press SPACE or LEFT CLICK to progress dialogue, and LEFT CLICK or NUMBER KEYS to select dialogue choices.

Why?

While staying in the house and looking for clues with their best friend, Gabe, they come to realize that the way to get the house to “open up” is to get their friends to open up. This misconception causes them to try and repeat the same method to their other friends Carsen and Tarani, and eventually once they “beat” the “other routes”, they try and exit the house, only to be whisked back to the beginning of the game. This time, you have to play through the same exact events, but with slightly different choices as you loop through time. Eventually, you will get the choice to open up about your relationship to the house, and if you do, the ground will begin to shake and the house will collapse, but… you have a feeling it will be okay.

I’ve always been someone that people confided in, and I take pride in this fact. There are a lot of ways that my real world experiences tie into IATH (multiple friends have called Sam my self-insert), probably more than I could ever share, but it essentially boils down to being the main source of comfort and venting for my friends. It’s a role that I’m more than happy to take on, of course, but it does come with the burden of knowledge, something that I try to make apparent through changes in Sam’s body and the house.
