Jo(Seoyun) Nam

MFA design & technology
Jo Nam is a New York-based product designer working at the intersection of humanism and technology. An MFA candidate in Design and Technology at Parsons School of Design with a minor in Global Mental Health, she holds a BFA in Visual Communication Design from Hongik University.

Her practice treats care as a structural condition rather than a sentiment. Driven by an interest in "active wellness"—well-being as an intentional, sustained practice—she designs technologies that hold back so the person using them can come forward, creating dwellable digital experiences that support the human spirit.

Unreadable Letter

2026

Unreadable Letter is a single-participant interactive sound installation that listens to what gets swallowed between languages. The participant writes a letter that will not be sent. As they type, some characters are quietly swallowed, and what does not arrive in words returns as sound. The work treats writing as a form of care, and listening as a form of presence.
