Hyper3* is a gamified web experience that poeticizes the everyday lives of neurodivergent individuals through a series of interactive narratives. Situated within the neurodiversity paradigm, the project addresses the gap between growing public recognition of neurodiversity and the limited artistic exploration of what it actually feels like. Using the browser as both medium and metaphor, Hyper3* invites users across the spectrum to engage with micro-narratives of neurodivergent experience, fostering empathy and resisting the standardization of how minds are expected to behave.

Hyper*3 is a gamified web experience that simulates and poeticizes the everyday experiences of some people identified as neurodivergent. After the neurodiversity paradigm emerged in the 1990s, public recognition of neurodiversity has shifted toward a more inclusive perspective, rather than categorizing people with different neuroactivities as “normal” or “abnormal.” However, gaps remain in understanding the neurodiversity experience, especially in the realm of artistic expression, which limits the public recognition of it. The project aims to fill that gap by creating a series of interactive narratives that remediate micro-narratives, inviting people to empathize with this sphere, whether or not they are already familiar with it.

The website will be the primary means of interaction, expanding the audience’s reach and leveraging the potential of web-based technology and paradigms. The goal is not only to draw attention to and share knowledge about neurodiversity, but also to discuss the importance of diverse personal experiences. The space for mutual understanding and for acknowledging the value of minority perspectives is in peril amid intensifying conflicts among ideological, social, political, and artistic positions. If one can claim a standard for how the mind should behave, one can also claim a panopticon-like paradigm that regularizes other perspectives on life. Hyper3* hopes to communicate across the spectrum, refuse a single narrative that seeks to sanitize and standardize us, and connect people through a shared memory of digital neurodiversity.
