This project explores how immersive installation can be designed to evoke what Abraham Maslow describes as a “peak experience”, a temporary state of heightened awareness, wonder, and emotional intensity.

Project Overview:

Mise En Scène asks a single question: can the conditions for a peak experience be intentionally designed?

This thesis stems from personal encounters with immersive installation art, including Studio Drift, Es Devlin, and Tomás Saraceno, which briefly dissolved my sense of everyday life and replaced it with awe and suspension. As a filmmaker trained in the language of scene-making, I began to ask whether a physical environment, built with enough sensory intention, could produce that same shift in a viewer.
