The World I Dream Of is an interactive illustration project that transforms a personal imagined world into a navigable experience. Built with p5.js, it combines animation, movement, and interactive elements across different spaces. A physical invitation letter guides visitors to discover a hidden password before entering the website, linking physical and digital interaction. The project explores how illustration can become an experiential medium through participation and imagination.

The World I Dream Of is an interactive illustration website that invites audiences to enter a personal imagined world through exploration, movement, and discovery.

Inside the world, visitors can travel through spaces shaped by memory, fantasy, and emotion, including the school, workplace, gallery, and house. Rather than presenting illustration as a fixed image, the project transforms illustration into a space that can be entered and experienced through interaction.

Before entering the world, please open the invitation letter on the desk and follow the instructions inside. The password is hidden somewhere within the physical space.

Use your keyboard and mouse to interact with the world.

MFA design & technology
Hi, I’m Yan Yang, a visual artist and designer from China. I studied in San Francisco and New York, where I developed an interest in combining visual storytelling with technology and interactive media.
My work explores imaginative and experimental ways of expression through illustration, digital interaction, and immersive experiences. I enjoy creating surreal and dreamlike worlds that invite audiences not only to observe, but also to explore and participate.
