Columbia University is inviting faculty and students from NYC’s universities to demo at NYC Media Lab ’16, which will be hosted onThursday, September 22nd, from 8 am to 6 pm at Columbia University’s Alfred Lerner Hall. This is NYC Media Lab’s major event of the year. On this day, community-executives from the media and technology industries, faculty and students, startups and investors, come together for discussion, demos and networking. The plan is to host more than 100 demonstrations of digital media research and prototypes and award $25,000 in prizes. ELab fellow startup SMS Care wins the D-Prize

The ELab is very excited to announce that SMS care, one of this year’s ELab fellows and a social innovation startup that was founded by Thomas Disley and Don Morrison, has won the $13.5K D-Prize and raised a total of $18K that will enable them to run a pilot in Ethiopia this April. The startup aims to break barriers to treating hard-to-reach patients through a system that measures every component of their intervention in real time.                          The ELab had the pleasure to offer a workshop on tax compliance as part of its Workshop Series for its fellows. The workshop which was conducted by expert Philip Ambrosino CPA Certified Public Accountant covered general and specific grounds on the tax topic.
