\n<\/strong>Housing insecurity has been exacerbated by the economic impact of the pandemic. Tens of thousands of New Yorkers currently face the inability to pay rent, harassment from landlords, potential eviction, and homelessness. This dreadful situation has sparked protests, rent strikes, eviction defense coalitions, and campaigns calling for the cancelation of rent across the city. This panel discussion brings together activists, organizers, and tenant leaders involved in local tenant protection efforts to share their experiences and insights on the end of the emergency protections that have sheltered New Yorkers since the outbreak of Covid-19.<\/div>\n

Winsome Pendergrass,<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>member of New York Communities for Change and the Housing Justice for All Coalition, a group of over 70 organizations that represent tenants and homeless New Yorkers.<\/p>\n

Anita Long,<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>tenant leader at Community Action for Safe Apartments (CASA) in the Bronx and member of the Housing Justice for All Coalition.<\/p>\n

Marika Dias,<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0public interest attorney and Managing Director of the Safety Net Project at the Urban Justice Center. She is also member of the Steering Committee of the Right to Council NYC Coalition.<\/p>\n
