Etching

In etching classes, students learn techniques for creating an image by etching a copper plate to create areas that hold ink, resulting in a print that can have endless variations of tone and texture, or a clear, etched line. Classes provide a vocabulary of techniques to encourage students to explore the infinite possibilities of expression, from a three-dimensional textured surface to a flat minimal approach, while also studying the vast history of etching as a means for art and image-making.
