The Sheila C. Johnson Design Center at Parsons explores personal definitions of America through words and objects with My America Is…, an exhibition curated by artists Janelle Abbot, a fashion design student at Parsons, and Sarah Smith, a communication design student at Parsons. Through a participatory exhibition design that asks visitors to contribute their own meanings of America, as well as the exhibition’s accompanying multimedia, My America Is… explores what the objects we keep say about individuals and their perception of their country.
