Each year the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers partners with more than 100 visual arts and literary arts organizations across the country to bring the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards to local communities. Teens in grades 7–12 (ages 13 and up) submitted nearly
320,000 works of art and writing this year to the Scholastic Awards.
Submissions are juried by luminaries in the visual and literary arts, some of whom are past award recipients. Panelists look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill, and
the emergence of a personal voice or vision.
This year’s National Exhibition exists as a stunning virtual exhibition featuring the most creative visual and literary works by teens from across the country. These young artists received top honors in the prestigious Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. The virtual exhibition showcases
more than 1,000 of the freshest and most engaging visual and literary works from students nationwide in painting, poetry, sculpture, photography, journalism, film, animation, editorial cartoons, and more.
The creative teens featured in this exhibition follow in the footsteps of past Scholastic Awards recipients Tschabalala Self, Stephen King, Kay WalkingStick, Charles White, Joyce Carol Oates, Andy Warhol, and many other notable artists and writers.
