Arnold and Sheila Aronson Galleries

During this holiday season, with visions of gift-giving dancing in our heads, we invite you to get into the spirit of exchange.

In a collaborative exhibition, The Present, students from the Köln International School of Design and the Parsons Transdisciplinary Design Graduate Program critically explore the role design plays in shaping our current reality.

The Present is an exhibition hosted at the Sheila C. Johnson Design Center’s Aronson Galleries at Parsons The New School for Design by students from the Köln International School of Design and the Parsons Transdisciplinary Design Graduate Program. Staged during the height of the gift-giving season, the exhibition challenges visitors to consider whether design is an act of generosity or greed, redemption or frivolity. Through critical product design, subversive videos, satirical stories, and controversial projects, the students create a context for dialogue and debate, posing the question of whether design is a gift or a curse.
