The Nemesis Machine<\/em>, a large-scale installation by British artist Stanza, is a mechanical mini-metropolis that monitors the behaviors, activities, and changing information of the world around us through the use of networked devices and information electronically transmitted across the Internet. Customized and adapted to each site in which it is displayed, the artwork consists of a city of electronic components that reflects in real time what is happening in its surroundings and beyond. The Nemesis Machine visualizes life in the metropolis on the basis of data transmitted from a network of wireless sensors and represents the complexities of the real time city as a shifting, morphing, and complex system.<\/p>\n
