Nightly Trip

Class of: 2024

Major: Product Design BFA

Medium: Indian ink on paper

Faculty: Tamar Samir

Prompt: In this project, we will use the format of the One- Minute Book to create a small artist book that introduces aspects of you and your personality. Based on the self-exploration work we've done in class, your Bridge 1 work in Seminar, and using the One-Minute Book format — you'll create a “memoir” book. It can be a mix of fantasy and reality about yourself and your identity so far.

Time and space can be distorted for someone experiencing a panic attack. The book retells an account of an individual going through a panic attack and having it end by the strangest of ways. On the first four pages of the book it portrays the franticness of a panic attack, as well as the individual trying to calm themselves down. The last pages are significantly different to the  first four as they seem more structured, this is due to the individual calming down from their attack by talking a walk. During their walk they stumbled upon a store still open late at night. They went inside the store for the hell of it. Unbeknownst to the individual, they were about to go on their wildest “trip”. The poster page of the book portrays a pair of eyes peering through the door way into a world of clouds. This doorway is meant to be the square tab the individual is seen holding on the last page of the book, signifying the trip that is about to come.
