For this project, we were tasked with making a book or magazine cover to explore text and image and their relationship. I decided to design a contemporary poetry magazine, entitled triplet.<\/p>\n

I titled it “triplet” to pay homage to the poetry phrase triplet, meaning: \u201ca rather rare stanza form in poetry, one which is basically three lines that rhyme. It is a type of tercet, or three-lined stanza or poem. However, the triplet is more specifically bound by rhyme scheme and sometimes meter, than the tercet\u201d<\/p>\n

My theoretical magazine would be published once a month, with poems centralized around a monthly theme. The cover art relates somehow to the theme of the month as well. I think that more people should read poetry, but I understand that it is shrouded with misconceptions about being pretentious or you have to be \u201csmart\u201d to \u201cget it\u201d etc. Therefore, I wanted the overall feel of the magazine to be both accessible while simultaneously maintaining the integrity of the art inside (the poetry), thus, I went for a pretty minimalist aesthetic because I thought it best achieved this accessible, yet editorial feel as well as allow the work inside to speak for itself.<\/p>\n
