As a kid with divorced parents, I\u2019ve had lots of homes. Specifically, I moved around a lot with my mom moving to many different neighborhoods in Seattle. Because of this, I\u2019ve never really thought of one place as my childhood home or neighborhood. I wanted to convey that feeling in this art piece. I used furniture to portray the skyline of Seattle [my home city]. I specifically used furniture found in a living room because that\u2019s where I spent the most time with my family. I decided to recreate the Seattle city skyline because I\u2019ve moved many times in Seattle and think of the entire city as my home. The furniture positioning gives this piece the chaos found in moving but I still wanted to capture the comfort that home should give. The three photo cutouts on the bookshelf are family heirlooms that give this artwork a personal touch. This piece shows that my childhood idea of home is wherever your family is and can be more of a feeling rather than a specific place or an actual house.<\/p>\n
