For this project, I created a \u201cwaste inventory\u201d by collecting all trash and garbage I generated within the timeframe of a week. From that, I decided to create a series of illustrations and photographs based on what I was able to collect throughout the course of the project. Subsequently, I chose to create a systems map surrounding an individual sock as my object. I wanted to include even the smallest details so the piece could draw attention to the number of systems and various processes that are often forgotten or overlooked in the process of manufacturing the sock. Through the project, I became more aware of the various subsystems that are involved in manufacturing, especially when it comes to clothing materials. Creating the systems map allowed me to realize that often, the work that goes into manufacturing and producing an item is often taken for granted or not considered at all. I hope that through my work, I can raise awareness about the importance of acknowledging the traceability of the processes that are involved in manufacturing products, and whether or not these processes are sustainable and worth the subsequent environmental impact.<\/p>\n
