The topic of this sculpture is “Wolf’s Social Behavior.” The overall idea of the sculpture is focused on the wolf packs’ hierarchy and unity. Each ball is a different pack. The bigger the ball, the higher the hierarchy. The largest ball is the alpha of the group. The alpha protects other pack members (other balls smaller than the largest ball) unconditionally. The circle shape symbolizes the unity within the wolf pack; the circle is like an arm surrounding other wolves. Another meaning of the ball is that the ball is shaped like a cave. The cave is where the wolves rest and let down their vigilance. There are three materials used in these projects \u2013 fur, clay, and tinfoil. The fur around the clay represents the wolves. It’s a hint that this sculpture is about the wolves. Clay represents the position and hierarchy of the wolves in their habitat. And because the clay will harden once it’s dry, it’s similar to the cave where the wolves rest. Tinfoil represents a weaker wolf pack. It has a different texture than clay, which could be easily torn apart.<\/p>\n
