The first part of the project was to use wire as a linear to create a third dimension Polyhedron. The from could be a Platonic Solid, an Archimedean Solid, or a Kepler Poinsot Solid. The second part of the project was to add a new material to the wire form to create an envelope of planes attached to the wire structure. Archimedean solid with 38 faces: 6 squares and 32 equilateral triangles because I thought it would be a fun challenge. Working with wire was definitely a time-consuming process, to precisely straighten and satisfactorily bend the wire so that it was correctly shaped and sized. As I continued working with wire the process got easier and the shapes eventually started coming together. Once I completed the snub cube I wanted to add a softer material that allowed both the wire and material to complement each other. I decided on yarn of a similar thickness. I wrapped yarn around adjoining triangles and squares until it created a visually appealing pattern. I then decide to leave the bottom square exposed and place the cube over a sunset lamp.
