This Project was a continuation of our previous project (Bridge Three), which was a design solution for a political issue of our choice. I chose women’s rights and looked at the history of the suffrage movement to understand where we have come from to be at the moment we are today, as well as to get inspiration for style and aesthetic to take into my design. For Bridge three I researched the history of the women\u2019s rights movement specifically the suffrage era, focusing my research and inspiration in the fashion of that time. I found that the suffrage movement had a very strong visual power which came from their all white, formal dress-code or ‘uniform’. This strong visual unity was affective in bringing them respect and signaling the movement. For this project I wanted to pay homage to the women that came before me who fought for our rights. I did this by creating two garments, very clearly inspired by suffrage fashion but modernized and catered towards the younger generation as a way to continue the legacy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":15064,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[24],"tags":[41],"class_list":["post-15058","student-work","type-student-work","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-integrative-studio-seminar-2","tag-fashion"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\nEllia Baldwin -
