{"id":16307,"date":"2024-01-10T14:59:55","date_gmt":"2024-01-10T19:59:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/parsons.edu\/undergrad\/?post_type=student-work&#038;p=16307"},"modified":"2024-01-10T14:59:56","modified_gmt":"2024-01-10T19:59:56","slug":"elle-gallen-2","status":"publish","type":"student-work","link":"https:\/\/parsons.edu\/undergrad\/student-work\/elle-gallen-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Elle Gallen"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The building I chose to base my ceramic house on is the \u201cCotswold Cottage\u201d, a historical building made in England in the 1600s, but brought over to Dearborn Michigan in the 1900s. Greenfield Village at the Henry Ford, a historical site, houses it and allows visitors to take a trip to the 1600s. I traveled there every summer and have many beautiful memories here. The building itself is very old and all of the cobblestones were handmade, so I maintained this quality throughout the work with somewhat uneven clay throughout. The holes are all different sizes, and the top kind of caves in, but it\u2019s homey. The light filters through the piece in a way that reminds me of my home in Missouri. The piece has room inside to hold a candle which will filter light outwards. After the piece went through the bisque firing, I drew animals and colors on the exterior, creating an almost childlike feel to further the homey feel.
