I thought trying to replicate my partner\u2019s face would not demonstrate our concept of this project. The contour drawings were based on the barest perception of each other, purely by looking at the other\u2019s feature. The body knows what it knows, and if this deformation is what my hands captured, then I believe that is the way I perceive my partner, and what I wanted to demonstrate through my various faces. The more I thought about it, the more I liked how it turned out and thus my final project was decided. Since this is not my usual style, deformation-related works, using blind contour drawings I quickly made a few sketches of my subject and took it from there. The way the faces are stuck to the wooden board takes on my subject\u2019s restrictive and organized nature while I contrasted that ideology by making the faces all look very different from each other to show my nature of going with the flow. In my opinion, not a single human should ever be perceived in a ‘clean’ and straightforward manner because that is not what is means to be human.
