The viewer is taken on a journey \u2013 their eye \u2018starts\u2019 off with our whole untouched faces, but with each fold, they observe an attribute suddenly extracted, eventually \u2018terminating\u2019 with a composition merely consisting of all of these extractions \u2013 what we are seen, remembered and perhaps associated with. In terms of this concertina-like design, it not only adds this undulating surge of dynamism, but almost causes the viewer to interact with the work, as they squat down or come up close to observe the text or spot the missing features. Essentially, this work questions what happens when we take away what makes \u2018us\u2019 us. What are we left with? Whilst only remnants of external \u2018us\u2019 are seen by the \u2018end\u2019 of this design, suddenly the texts (taken from our seminar essays) are more visible \u2013 we can now perceive and perhaps acknowledge what makes \u2018us\u2019 internally. Therefore, perhaps this work\u2019s narrative also has a transient nature \u2013 considering how our external appearances can so easily not only physically change as well as fade over time, but change with each perspective, person to person \u2013 and yet, our internal voices linger throughout (both in life, but specifically here exemplified through the text), only recognised and appreciated by those who make the effort to notice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":16634,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[23],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-16626","student-work","type-student-work","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-integrative-studio-seminar-1"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
