This was an experimental assignment using the old master technique. It was made with various layers, brush strokes, and pigments. The first step is to prime the panel with Gesso, using rabbit skin glue and a white pigment. Then to present a sketch made on Vellum Paper with Graphite. After preparing the panel, there is a transfer process onto the panel using the sketch and a loose pigment. The painting begins with an underpainting in white, made from egg yolk, loose white powder, rabbit skin glue, and water. From here, there is a continuous glazing process, where oil paint is applied in thin dry layers.
