This pants chain reimagines traditional Chinese and Japanese tile patterns from historical dynasties into a bold streetwear accessory. Inspired by ceramic tile designs from China\u2019s Ming and Qing Dynasties and Japan\u2019s Edo period, each laser-etched plywood tile reflects symbols of prosperity, harmony, and resilience. In the Ming Dynasty, for instance, intricate floral patterns like peonies and chrysanthemums were popular on tiles, symbolizing wealth, honor, and longevity. Similarly, Qing Dynasty tiles often included lotus and wave motifs, representing purity but strength in the face of challenges. In Japan\u2019s Edo period, tile patterns incorporated natural elements like clouds and waves, conveying impermanence and adaptability, central themes in Japanese aesthetics. By using plywood, the piece retains a natural, textured look that complements streetwear\u2019s raw, organic vibe, while the vibrant orange string adds a modern, energetic contrast. I used orange to signify happiness and success in East Asian culture. Through these historical patterns and symbols, my piece bridges traditional values with contemporary fashion.
