Like a seed pushing through hard soil, “Blossom” is the growing strength and resilience that emerge through struggle. Inspired by the Mahsa Amini protest, “Blossom” tries to reimagine the hijab as a symbol of resilience and strength. Traditionally worn by women in most Islamic societies to denote modesty and cultural identity, this work transforms the hijab into an “armor” made entirely of hand-woven black and silver wires. This complex wirework retains the hijab’s familiar shape while adding a protective, shield-like quality. Gilding was applied onto the wires to elevate the hijab\u2019s form as an object of pride and honor. A holographic strip along the front catches and reflects light, symbolic of visibility and the courage to stand out despite facing oppression.
