This project was a personal and creative exploration developed for my Time class, where we were tasked with creating a personal visual portrait. For my piece, I chose to illustrate my original poem \u201cRuva\u201d, written in Shona, my native language. The poem uses the life cycle of a flower as a metaphor to personify human emotions and the growing pains we experience throughout life. Through this poetic lens, I reflected on transformation, vulnerability, and resilience \u2014 emotions that, like petals blooming and wilting, unfold in cycles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When designing the visual component, I wanted my model to serve as a living embodiment of the poem\u2019s central theme: the delicate yet powerful intersection between nature and humanity. Her bright makeup and the vibrant flowers woven into her hair symbolize this fusion \u2014 the way human experiences mirror natural processes. The colors and organic elements not only highlight beauty but also speak to the emotional highs and lows we endure. Just as a flower flourishes, fades, and renews, so too do we as we navigate change, growth, and self-discovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project challenged me to represent both identity and emotion through a blend of visual storytelling and poetic language.
