This project focuses on the myth of the “Moon Rabbit” which originated in China but spread throughout East Asia. Growing up, I always thought this myth was weird and creepy but I didn’t fully understand it which made me want to learn more. Being linked to the Korean holiday \u201cChuseok\u201d (Korean Thanksgiving), it symbolizes kindness and generosity. I wanted to portray the myth the way I perceived it as a child, which is why the artwork looks more creepy and abstract rather than warm and comforting. The majority of the piece was created using pen, with sharp, boxy lines that reflect my art style. The colors red, blue, white, and black are linked to the colors of the Korean flag. I wanted to emphasize the Korean theme in this piece because I think thats a big part of who I am as a person.
