This sculptural box is a butterfly shape, constructed from layered acrylic sheets in magenta, blue, and yellow,which are the three primary colors. The transparency of the material is central to the work. As the viewer moves around the piece, the overlapping colors combine and shift, producing a changing spectrum of secondary hues. This effect is the heart of the piece, a visual “butterfly effect”, where small changes in viewpoint produce dramatically different color experiences. The box is fully functional, with a removable lid held in place by inner rods.
