My inspiration of creating this project came from the movie “UP”, where the main\u00a0character in the movie wanted to fulfilled his dream by tying tons of balloons on\u00a0his house and to fly toward the American wilderness. Thus, I decided to make a\u00a0very calming and fantasy miniature world with a levitated upside down house and\u00a0all kinds of species within a transparent container to represent that all abnormal
\nbeings are accepted. To show that, I portrayed a very hopeful and peaceful\u00a0scene where there is no discrimination between different individuals by including\u00a0all kinds of animals and elements, as we as audiences can also see through the\u00a0container.<\/p>\n
First, I made needle felted animals because I like the texture of softness and\u00a0realism. After creating the animals, I created a sphere beneath the up side down\u00a0house to represent the Earth, yet to show that the house is floating in the space.\u00a0Then, I made clouds with wool and attached them with the house. To me, clouds\u00a0always appear to be magical “creatures” because they would present\u00a0themselves in different shapes and forms that can be interpreted in different\u00a0ways through people\u2019s eyes. For me, I also felt like clouds represent escapism\u00a0because we can imagine them into whatever objects we want. Moreover, I\u00a0wanted to emphasize how everyone should not be afraid of daydreaming in\u00a0order to accomplish their dreams, so I wrapped around the wool around string\u00a0lights to make the clouds (dream) really stand out in the dark. Lastly, to create a\u00a0stronger sense of the floating house and reinforce the levitating illusion, I made\u00a0balloons out of wool on top the house as if the balloons were lifting up the\u00a0house.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":8809,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[22],"tags":[86],"class_list":["post-8808","student-work","type-student-work","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-drawing-imaging","tag-places-and-things"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
