On Legal Framework and Land Speculation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/urban.parsons.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/dubvraka.jpg\" alt=\"Dubravka\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Wednesday October 7th Urban at Parsons will host &#8220;Don&#8217;t Stare so Romantically!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Laws, Legality Laws and procedures have always been considered a nuisance from which architecture \u201csuffers\u201d and architects shy away from. In this talk, <strong>Dubravka Sekuli\u0107 will explore the correlation between legal framework and land speculations<\/strong>, starting from roof extensions in Belgrade, to right to the city struggle in Zagreb, she will show how making of laws and procedures that shape built environment should not be left to technocrats influenced by capital. Or why are regulations so important that they cannot be left out from the process of design, and that this could be one of the places for the reengagement of the discipline with the society.<\/p>\n<p>Dubravka is an architect researching transformations of contemporary cities. She is an author of \u201cGlotzt Nicht so Romantisch! On Extralegal Space in Belgrade\u201d and an editor of \u201cSurfing the Black\u201d and \u201cStruggle for Everyday: the case of Peti park\u201d.
