Through the years, the Parsons BFA Fashion Thesis Show has helped launch the careers of its most talented alumni. The first in the nation, Parsons’ fashion design program has educated a who’s who list of talent from Claire McCardell and Normal Norell to Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Lazaro Hernandez, Jack McCollough of Proenza Shouler, Narciso Rodriguez, Anna Sui, and Alexander Wang.

Problem solving and visual communication are the focus of the fashion design curriculum at Parsons. From research and conceptual drawing, through the selection of colors and fabrics, to the construction and presentation of finished garments, the process emulates the workings of a professional design studio. The 345 students accepted into Parsons’ AAS Fashion Studies program have an undergraduate college education and focus strictly on design. They learn about the history of fashion and trends and bring styles from across the globe to the streets of New York City.
