Mapping Mutualism
This mapping visualizes mutual aid. Through systems of exchange participants are able to engage in their individualized cultivation practice. Prime Produce is a hub administering resources to community practitioners. Those resources can flow back into the organization as well as be exchanged amongst participants. This map shows a dissemination of resources from Prime Produce. Some of those resources include, tinyplots, seeds, soil, and information. This flow of resources fostered through mutual aid is the foundational structure of Agritopias.
New Jersey Grow Station: Mushroom Cultivation
One of the grow sites located in NJ has received three mushroom blocks. One shiitake blocks and two mushroom blocks. The oyster blocks had the highest yield and were incorporated into meals.
New Jersey Grow Station: Deep Water Chamber (DWC) Hydroponic Reservoir:
The DWC reservoir tested indoor growing capacity and establish foundational understanding of hydroponic techniques. This indoor system was an initial prototype preceding the onsite build of an aeroponic chamber. Tests of this system include automation and data integration for metrics to support ease of maintenance as well as document growing processes and community engagement. The hydroponic system is to be implemented in a collective organization maintained by multiple people in an irregular capacity. So this is ongoing and will become more conclusive when onsite interaction resumes.
Scalable Grow Stations: Seeds to Soil Cooperative Tinyplot Infrastructure
The seed stations comprising this urban horticulture network are created with scalable infrastructure. The NJ grow station is still individual scale but hydroponic resources are not accessible for all growers. In supplement, tiny plots are small garden plots made from donated milk crates where individuals can plot small vegetables and herbs. This is a vehicle to educate and share information in an egalitarian capacity. Tiny plots are administered for pick up through Seeds to Soil Cooperative at Prime Produce. This system can interface in a modular way with Community Supported Agriculture models and will integrate with an onsite Aeroponic Chamber
Scalable Grow Stations: Aeroponic Infrastructure
The Aeroponic system is a cooperative scaled grow chamber built to support Prime Produce & Seeds to Soil Community Supported Agriculture model. This is the largest scaled grow station implement.
