"I have never felt the affection between me and the city so strong and endurable that several times a week, staring at Manhattan through the window makes me want to cry, not because of unpleasant things I'm facing at this stage but only because I miss the city so much. This is a little bit ironic because I never realize I've fell in love with it before I cannot touch it."
“Home in City Fragments” speaks to my interest in the emotional connection associated with cities I have lived in. It is my exploration and answer to the questions: What is the emotional bond between an individual and a city? How is that bond built?
“Home” to me, instead of being a single stationary place in a corner of the world, turns out to be a dynamic compilation built by “city fragments”, the certain places that share irreplaceable meanings with me.
I always have the feeling that each city lives in my body after I left. So in my project, I use the body part which participated in that moment, to unlock the narrative about why that place become meaningful and a part of my "home".
