Reconciliation is an interactive installation that offers catharsis through the users’ own expression of emotions. It provides an immersive experience based on therapy, through the users verbalizing their feelings.
The installation includes a microphone, paper printer, and a shredder. Users speak their intimate feelings through the microphone, which are simultaneously printed out then fed through the shredder..
This project came out of my own feelings of regret related to a previous personal experience, and seeking to create a ritual of reconciliation with myself and my past. The two different outcomes from the installation, represented in the printed and shredded papers, speak to the multiple experiences we all have with regret and reconciliation.
