The aim of this project is to help parents who know the importance of sexual abuse prevention have conversations about this vital topic with their young kids. The project is an open dialogue learning tool that builds concepts of boundaries and consent as it teaches refusal strategies appropriate for 5-6-year-old children. The package includes a set of illustrated cards that serve as scenario prompts for conversation. Parents can choose to follow the instructions and interact with their kids step by step, or they can simply use cards to create a specific scenario and open up the “talk” based on a timely situation. The game-like interaction increases the possibility that parents are willing to communicate early and often and creates an environment where kids feel comfortable asking questions, sharing feelings, and having difficult conversations.
