Link is the game about the relationship between humans and animals. This project has been conducted on the question: Can animals and humans be equal? Whether it is a difference in moral status or cognitive ability, humans are in a position where it is not easy to become equal with animals. That doesn’t mean that these are reasonable reasons for such inequality however it is clear that it is very difficult to break away from a human-centered mindset. If people raise pets with love, treat them like family, name them and dress them like humans, is that meaning equal? Or should it be seen as applying the culture, convention, and customs of human beings without considering the characteristics of animals? If animals can be treated recklessly because their cognitive abilities are lower than humans, can children and people with intellectual disabilities be treated the same?
Such as animal rights and responsibilities, there are so many questions that people cannot easily answer. The game isn’t meant to give specific answers to these questions, but one thing is for sure: I made a game about an animal’s journey in the sense that it needs to be given less oppression and more freedom.
