Shine Thru

CONCEPT STATEMENT

“Shine Thru is a personal long-distance interactive installation that is dedicated to creating a deeper bonding between my best friend Yue and me, whose friendship is limited by physical distance. This project attempts to enable friends who live at a distance to be reminded of the other’s existence through the action of allowing virtual sunlights to be shined into the room of the distanced friend (Yue) and allowing sunflowers to follow the movements of the lights. The sunflower and sunlight resemble the existence of me in her space. Overall Shine Thru attempts to bridge closer interactions, seek opportunity to spark conversation, and leaves lasting traces of one’s existence in another’s living space and time.”
