After Awake

What will happen when AI starts to ask for being more than just a replica of humans? After Awake is a short narrative film using interactive VR to tell the story of a woman who uses an AI system to resurrect her dead sister, only to find out that the AI version of her sibling craves more than just a digital existence.

In this VR experience, the player interacts with her AI sister.  After a debate between the player and this amorphous AI, the player faces multiple choices and their potential consequences, encouraging the player to reconsider the ethical implications of the human-AI relationship. The film explores the hypothetical scenario of artificial intelligence achieving sentience and asking for “human” rights. The project aims to spark discussions about AI-related ethics and rights, and prompt audiences to think critically about the future of human-AI relationships.
