Marcinia is an MFA student in the Design and Technology program with an Economics Concentration in Finance background. She is a designer from Brooklyn, NY who focuses on exploring Haitian folklore, and spiritual storytelling with and through material.

Ogoun's House

In order to create compelling visuals in sculpture with the artwork and/ or artist’s goal, multiple elements of sensorial experience and the practice of the Vodou religion come together to study the evocation of aesthetic emotion. In the first installation of a possibly lifelong series, the study of Vodou spirits’ personal character attributes, preferences, and aversions are translated into sculptural “homes” through material, sound, scent, etc. to cultivate a level of aesthetic emotion. The combination of the previous allows for a deeper art experience with undertones of spirit representation in Haitian Vodou spirituality through intention in designing elements of the sculptural homes.
