This exhibition explores the impact of interiors on civic and urban life.

The work was produced by AAS Interior Design students collaborating with activist community groups in Brooklyn to turn Williamburg’s Engine 212, a defunct FDNY building, into a community and arts center.

The Arnold and Shelia Aronson Galleries is designed as a space for community interaction, and the following programs will be hosted there during the week-long run of Engine 212:

• Wednesday, September 15, 6:00 p.m., Opening Reception
• Monday, September 20, 6:00 p.m., John Hawke presentation, respondents: Radhika Subramaniam and Alan Bruton
• Tuesday, September 21, 6:00 p.m., Re: Activism – film screening.
• Wednesday, September 22, 6:00 p.m., Re-Use Roundtable for next issue of WORK byIoanna Theochoropolou, Emily Abruzzo and Johanne Woodcock.
• Friday, September 24, 12:00 noon, Bye Bye Benches, a parallel event organized by NTHCCC, in which benches are trucked to Engine 212 for future use there by the Williamsburg community.
• Saturday, September 25, 12:00-4:00 p.m., Closing – the week of programs concludes with students taking their work off the walls at the Aronson Gallery and making a book of ideas.
