A.I.reframe: A proposed Approach to Generative Wireframe Design

Huimin Hu

Artificial Intelligence(AI) has become more and more important in revolutionizing people's daily life. In this thesis project, I am proposing a novel approach to integrate AI with modern design. Specifically, with the help of machine learning, we can automatically generate diversified and optimized wireframes that are driven by users' preferences and needs. This novel AI-driven wireframe design approach can significantly reduce the time UX designers spend on wireframing, improve their productivity, and also strengthen their final output.

It is important for designers to develop human skills and cognitive powers to keep competitiveness in the Age of A.I. One way that designers can do is to leverage AI to do their non-creative and repetitive works and spend more time on challenging tasks that benefit their long term career development. Therefore, instead of experimenting with using AI to create artworks, I want to explore how we can benefit from current AI technology as a designer. After defining the problems in wireframe design, I focussed my project scope to propose an AI-driven wireframe design experience. My goal is to help UX designers to jumpstart their wireframes designing.
