While studying design and technology for the past year in isolation, we have been working at the edge of the unknown. Why are we doing the work we’re doing? How will this work prepare us for the future? What does the future even look like? The collection you are about to read is the product of a year of intense introspection and crisis.
Parallel reflects the physically separated, yet shared lives that we live under COVID. We have been working individually, but not independently. Together, the authors confront a wide range of topics—from post-apocalyptic future states to the erasure of past traditions—but we all have the shared aims of questioning norms and pushing the edge forward.
In parallel.txt, we present the inner thoughts, methods, and contexts behind the technologies we’ve created. Within these pages, you’ll find personal experiences, narrative visions, process documentations, and cultural research. We offer this publication as a testimony of the parallel challenges of creating and living in the world today.
